INTRODUCTION TO YOUR CAT. DIET, SOCIAL PERIOD AND MORE.
Two things about cats: they came from the desert and prefer being alone (solitary hunters). We'll look more into the importance of that later.
Firstly, diet. Cats are carnivores; they must eat meat. Human food like onions, gravy or even grapes are toxic to the the delicate livers of cats. Dog food is also obviously out out bounds.
Most cats are also adapted to being alone. They are are solitary hunters; they work alone. They hunt alone, eat alone, they are mostly alone. Don't feed cats at one bowl, they will not like it!
Despite the fact that cats usually act alone, they can be trained to interact with others. Even dogs. The social period is when the cats are between 2 to 8 weeks old. During this time, they can be adapted to interact, but mostly, cats prefer being alone.
Another thing which should be done during the social period is getting them used to health check ups. During their social period, get them used to you checking their eyes, paws, ears and mouth. To open their mouth, place your left hand near the whiskers area and used your right hand to open their mouth! It is good to do this yourself so you don't have to stress them out going to the vet. Also get them used to being lifted.
To look at your cat, don't stare at them directly. They hate it, they think you are dangerous. Instead, look slightly away from them and blink slowly.
What's also important is the food bowl and water bowl. Keep them seperate! Cats came from the desert, and the food and water could contaminate each other. So it's important to keep them seperate so your cat will drink it and keep their bodies healthy!
Cats are complicated, but adorable. Look after them.
